Laser for machine vision
Lasers for machine vision from Z-LASER are used as structured illumination in many machine vision systems. The combination of laser illumination and machine vision offers interesting possibilities for the automation of optical quality control. With this form of illumination the spatial contours of moving and non-moving objects can be captured.
The lasers are used in combination with an industrial camera to detect and measure defects, presence, diameter, edges, gaps and more. Depending on the type of objects to be examined, line lasers with homogeneous and thin line projections or different patterns (multi lines, dot grids, grid structures, random patterns etc.) as well as wavelengths (blue, green, red, IR) are usually used.
The new ZX series lasers are ideal for integration into sensors and for high-volume OEM applications.
Application examples for lasers for machine vision
Our lasers for machine vision are used in various industries for automated optical quality control of components, assemblies, boards and similar.
The following are application examples for lasers for machine vision:
PCB inspection
When building PCBs, the correct position of the individual components must be checked. For this purpose, lasers with very fine lines and homogeneous intensity...
Dimensional accuracy test
Compliance with the dimensional specifications and tolerances is essential when manufacturing screws and nuts.
Measuring steel slabs
Often metals have to be tested as so-called slabs in their glowing state. Tactile measuring methods are not an option...
Tire tread measurement
In motor sports, car and truck fleet management as well as in workshops, the tread depth and the integrity of the vehicle...
Read code
With the help of 3D laser profilometry, coded or embossed numbers and letters on the tire wall can be read. This capability allows for automatic...

Reduction of the error rate and increase of quality by laser for machine vision
In many machine vision systems the laser modules of Z-LASER are used as structured illumination. Thus they detect the spatial contours of moving and unmoving objects. By using these lasers, you can detect defects, presence, diameter, edge gaps and more in order to measure them and subsequently correct or align them. Depending on the nature of the objects to be examined, micro or macro lines or different patterns (crosses, circles, dotted grids, multi lines or similar) are used.
